Horseback Riding Camp
Camp Treetops is a horseback riding camp where all campers have the opportunity to ride at least once a week, in one of our two outdoor riding rings or on trails around camp. Because our horses are our own, not rentals, and because our instructors are well qualified, experienced professionals, each rider is appropriately matched with a suitable horse. As a result, lessons are safe, fun, and informative. Once campers have demonstrated sufficient skill in cantering, bridling and saddling, they can experience the excitement and challenge of long trail rides through spectacular country on overnight trips.
Our goal is not to create professional equestrians (though many campers have gone on to lifelong enjoyment of the sport). Rather, we believe that the real value in attending a horseback riding camp lies in learning to manage an animal many times larger than oneself—from both the saddle and the ground. This affords our campers an an unparalleled opportunity for children to learn patience and self-control, and to find confidence and the joy of real accomplishment.
As with most any horseback riding camp, part of the campers' routine involves caring for the horses but the Camp Treetops experience does not end there. Our camp grounds include a full working farm where campers tend to many types of farm animals, perform daily chores and learn about the value of sustainable living.
